Enid Blyton (11 August 1887-28 November1968) was an English writer. She was born in London and today after dead she´s one of the most famous children´s writer. Her most famous stories are Famous Five andTeSeven Secrets (groups of boys). Her parents wanted her to become a concert pianist but Enid wanted to be a teacher. She began teaching in 1919 in Kent. When she was a teenager she began to write poems. Her first book called Child Whispers came out in 1922. She was twice and had two daughters.
Enid Blyton is in the Guiness Book of Records. She was included because she wrote more books than any other writer.
Inthe last years of her life she had a disease called presenile dementia.
Enid did a lot of work for charity and had a club to help children.



Nicholas Sparks

Nicholas Charles Sparks was born on December 31st, 1965, in Omaha, Nebraska. He was the middle of three children, with an older brother, Michael Earl Sparks and a younger sister, Danielle Sparks, who died at the age of 33 from a brain tumor. In 1974 his father became a professor of business at California State University. His family settled in Fair Oaks, California, and remained there through Nicholas's high school days. Then enrolling at the University of Notre Dame and majored in business finance and graduated in 1988. He also met his future wife that year, and married on July 22, 1989. Sparks resides in North Carolina with his wife, Cathy; their five children. Sparks contributes to local and national charities to the Creative Writing Program (MFA) at the University of Notre Dame.
While still in school in 1985, Sparks penned his first (never published) novel, The Passing, while home forThe notebook.jpg the summer between freshman and sophomore years at Notre Dame. He wrote another novel in 1989, also unpublished, The Royal Murders. After college, Sparks sought work with publishers or to attend law school, but was rejected in both attempts. He then spent the next three years trying other careers, including real estate appraisal, waiting tables, selling dental products by phone and starting his own manufacturing business. It was there that he wrote another novel in his spare time, The Notebook. Two years later, he was discovered by literary agent Theresa Park, who picked The Notebook and offered to represent him. The novel was published in October 1996 and made the New York Times best-seller list in its first week of release. With the success of his first novel, he moved to New Bern, NC. After his first publishing success, he wrote several international bestsellers. Eight of his novels have been made into films: Message in a Bottle (1999), A Walk to Remember (2002), The Notebook (2004), Nights in Rodanthe (2008), Dear John (2010), The Last Song (2010), The Lucky One (2012), and Safe Haven (2013). According to his website, he has also sold the screenplay adaptations of True Believer and At First Sight. Sparks released his 18th novel, on September 17, 2013.







PAUL AUSTER


Paul Auster was born on 3 February, 1947 in Newark, New Jersey(EE.UU)

With his first wife, Lydia Davis, he had a son, Daniel, and with his second, the writer Siri Hustvedt, a daughter, the actress Sophie Auster.

He is a writer, he began writing when he was 12 years old. Between 1965 and 1967 he studied French, Italian and English literature at the University of Columbia in New York. He wrote scripts for silent films that would never be filmed be find out later in the book of illusions. He writes articles for magazines and begins the first versions of the Country of Last Things´´ and the Palace of the Moon´´. He works in a tanker and he return to France where he will live about three years from 1971 to 1974. He made an important interview to Edmond Jabès. He also writes poetry and drama of an act. In 1976 he wrote his first novel, Squeeze Play (play of pressure).

Between 1986 and 1994, he published novels as the Palace of the Moon and Leviatha. He received the Medicis award in 1933 with this novel, Leviathan. In 2006 he received the Prince of Asturias Literature Prize and the same year he published Travels in the Scriptorium´´ and began what would become his second film as directo, The Inner Life of Martin Frost´´. iN 2008, he brings out another novel´´: A man in the dark´´. His work has been systematically translated into Spanish.

J.R.R Tolkien



J.R.R Tolkien was born in South Africa He was a very famous writer. He also was poet and teacher. J.R.R Tolkien taught English in the Oxford University and English literature in Merton College. He took part in a group of friends, (in this group they commented famous books in the time) the group was called Inklings.

After his death, his third son (Christopher) published his notes creating J_R_R_ Tolkien.jpgthe books that made him famous: “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings”. These books mix fiction, adventures, poems… His most famous book was “The Lord of Rings” published in three parts. J.R.R Tolkien spent more than ten years writing this book.

He died in the UK when he was 81.







TOM SHARPE


Tom Sharpe was born on 30th March, 1928 in Holloway, and died on 6th June, 2013. Tom Sharpe’s father,Rev George Coverdale Sharpe, was a Unitarian minister, who was active in far right politics in the 1930s. His mother was very ill and his life was very complicated.He died in 2013 from complications of diabetes.

Sharpe moved to South Africa in 1951, where he worked as a social worker and a teacherbefore being deported in 1961. In 1961 he wrote the first of his nine plays against apartheid. Tom Sharpe married with Nancy Anne Looper and they had three daughters. He went to the Pietermaritzburg jail. In 1971, Tom wrote his first novel and in 1976 he published WILT and he reached the total success. In thirteen years Tom Sharpe published eleven novels between 1971 and 1984.

Tom Sharpe received the Grand Prize of the black Humour in 1986. His novels have been translated into 22 languages and have sold more than ten million copies.WILT was made into a film in 1989 by Michael Tuchner

Ken Follet
Ken Follet is a famous writer. He was born in Cardiff (Wales) on 5th of June 1949. His parents were Martin Follett and Lavinia Follett, and they had three more children. He grew up in a catholic orthodox family who never let him watch TV and go to cinema, but he loved reading.
He studied philosophy in the “University College of London”. In 1968 he married his first wife, Mary, and they had a son, Emmanuele. In 1970 he worked as a reporter in the “South Wales Echo” of Cardiff. Two years later Ken met Barbara Follet and they got married in 1984. When he wrote Eye of the needle in 1978he became internationally famous, because he won the Edgar Best Novel Award from the Mystery Writers of America.
In 1979 he published his first best-seller international The island storm. Later Ken published Triple.In the 80’s he wrote The key is to Rebeca (1980), The man from San Petersburgo (1982), On wings of eagles (1983) and Lie down with lions (1986). These were thrillers, but he I then started to write historical books.
In 1989 Ken published his best novel The Pillars of the Earth, surprising everybody. In 2007 he made the sale the sequel to The pillars of the Earth: World without end. These stories have been adapted for the screen, like other Follet’s books. These two novels are maybe the most popular of him. Actually, Ken Follet had a cameo role as a merchant in The pillars of the Earth tv series.
Between 2007 and 2008 he became an Honorary Doctor of Literature by Saginaw Valley State University, the University of Glamorgan and the University of Exeter.
In 2010 Follet signed an open letter published in The Guardian, expressing his opposition to Pope Benedict XVI’s visited the UK.

Terry Pratchett was born in Buckinghamshire ( United Kingdom ) the 28th April 1948. He actually lives near Stonehenge, in Salisbury (Wiltshire), with his wife and his daughter Rhianna.







When he was 11 years, he went to study in the Technical School of High Wycombe. Here he published his first story in the school’s newspaper. He left school in 1965 to work. In that year, he wrote his second story. In 1971, he published his first book, called “The carpet people” which had good rewiews. Later he wrote 2 more books , “The dark side of the sun” (1976) and “Strata” (1981).







He is an important person because of the saga of Diskworld, which has 39 books. This saga made him an important and well known writer and person.

She was born the 31st of July in 1965. She was born in the locality of Chipping Sodbury, in the Yate Hospital. Her parents were Peter James Rowling and Anne Volat. They met in a train ride when they were only 18 years old and one year later they got married. J.K Rowling has a sister called Dianne Rowling. Her sister was born two years after her so she was her little sister.

She finished her studies of French Literature in the Exeter University.
J. K Rowling started writing her first book of Harry Potter in a train ride from Manchester to London and the same year her mother died. After that she wrote six more books about Harry Potter. She has sold over 450 million copies of her books. The main character is a boy who lives in a school of magic and here the students learn how to cast spells.


Her books made her important for a lot of readers that imagine a magic world thanks to her stories. She was famous for imagining a different world and writing about it. But other special thing that made her important was that she was a normal girl and in only five years she became a rich woman.
